Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Want to be a Teen Volunteer at the library? Volunteering at the Boulder Public Library is a great way to learn about the work environment, earn community service hours for school, or contribute to a worthy cause. Dates: May through July – application process for Summer of Discovery volunteers begins mid-April
Time: Shifts are scheduled for two hours, you pick the shifts you would like to volunteer
Location: Main, Meadows, George Reynolds, NoBo
Summary of Duties: Promote a summer of reading and discovery for all kids! Register kids for Summer of Discovery, answer questions about the program, talk to the kids about books they have read, help with events, help with record keeping, distribute information and award prizes! A one-time training is required.
Dates: Tuesdays and/or Saturdays
Time: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Location: George Reynolds Branch
Summary of Duties: Partner up with a child in grades K -3 (a Little Pal) to serve as a role model for once-a-week reading and word games. Each Little Pal will be paired with a Big Pal in 9th to 12th grade. This program promotes literacy skills and a love of reading for children in early elementary school in a comfortable and supportive environment. Spring session starts soon. Apply to be a Big Pal.

Time: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Summary of Duties: Have a voice in what happens at your library! The Teen Advisory Group meets once a month to organize teen library events, decide what will be added to the teen library collection, and discuss ways to improve lives for teens. It is open to teens in grades 6-12 for event planning, socializing and snacks. Join us to help create exciting programs like Teen Murder Mystery, DIY, and Haunted Library. Summary of Duties: Have a voice in what happens at your library! The Teen Advisory Board meets once a month to organize teen library events, decide what will be added to the teen library collection, and discuss ways to improve lives for Boulder County teens. Participation in the Advisory Board looks great on resumes and college applications with the added bonus of positive change in your community. Interested in being a member? Summary of Duties: Help with Children programming. Volunteer duties often entail setting up activities, organization/distribution of supplies, assist participants in doing the craft, and assist with setup before and takedown after the program.

Summary of Duties: Help ensure everything is in order and the books and items in the Children’s area stay clean.

Summary of Duties: Folding Books Project and General Assistance in the Teen Space at the Main Library – fold books to be on display and help with other projects in the Teen Space; help prepare materials for youth programs; clean and organize the Teen Space and Children’s area; help with office tasks and more. We ask that you try to volunteer for at least 2 shifts yet prefer that you sign up for regular volunteering.
Dates: 3rd Sunday of each month
Time: 4 – 5  p.m.

Summary of Duties: Get involved with an organization you love – your library! Plan teen library events, recommend books, earn community service and volunteer hours, hang out with friends, meet new people and have fun! First meeting to be held in September 2018.
