Career Online High School, or COHS, is an accredited adult high school diploma and career certificate program offered by BoulderReads, the Boulder Library Foundation, and the Boulder Public Library. The program gives adults personalized, flexible, and supportive help to achieve their goals. Each student’s tuition is paid in full by the Boulder Library Foundation.
To get started, adults 19 years old or older complete an online learner survey, a two-week prerequisite course, and a scholarship interview with BoulderReads staff. If accepted, students can then transfer over existing high school credits. During the first month, the student works with their own academic coach to get started and can be connected to a tutor if needed.
Students love COHS because of its flexibility! The self-paced classes allow some to spend as little as 7-10 hours a week in class. Many finish the program in 12 months; however, you have 18 months to complete the program. COHS is also career-focused, so graduates earn not only a high school diploma but also a career certificate in their chosen field.
At Boulder Public Library, 14 adults have graduated from the Career Online High School. Seven students are currently going through the program.
