Maurice Sendak: 50 Years; 50 Works; 50 Reasons

Created for the 50th anniversary of Where the Wild Things Are, we invite you to take part in an exhibition of 50 works by the late, great Maurice Sendak. The artwork is presented with heartfelt words from 50 extraordinary people, whose lives were all touched by this beloved author and illustrator…

The Maurice Sendak Memorial Exhibition is a retrospective of original works by Maurice Sendak. Presidents, illustrators, friends and celebrities share a quote about the renowned author; how he inspired them, influenced their careers and touched their lives. The quotes are presented together with the artwork, offering viewers food for thought as well as a feast for their eyes.

Wild Things Musical Storytime: Stuffie Sleepover
Main Library, Thursday, Nov. 19 — 4:00 p.m.

What kind of wild rumpus will your stuffie go on when it gets to spend the night at the library? Join us for a special Musical Storytime and bring a stuffie friend. Make your stuffie a Wild Things outfit and then leave it with us for a sleepover. Pick it up the next morning and get a photograph of its adventures.


Wild Things Roar Through the Library! Brunch and Storytime — Sold Out!
Main Library, Seeds Cafe, Sunday, Nov. 22 — 10:00 a.m.

Families are invited to a delicious brunch catered by Seeds Library Cafe and a Wild Things storytime while the library is closed. Bring your favorite stuffed monster, mask or just your inner growl.


Where the Wild Things Are Shadow Puppet Show
Main Library, Sunday, Nov. 22 – 4:30pm
Main Library, Monday, Nov. 23 – 11:00am

In this lively performance by Now or Never Theatre, right from the start Max gets into even more mischief than in the well-known story. After the forest grows in his room, we see him sail into a shadow dream world where anything can happen with storytelling, puppets, masks and shadows.
