Tutoring One-on-One
For adults seeking to improve their literacy skills to achieve personal goals related to post-secondary education, career advancement, and family literacy engagement.
Volunteer tutors meet with adult learners in person and/or online for learning sessions that fit their schedule and meet their literacy needs.

Requirements for learner participation:
- Must be 18+ years old and live or work in Boulder County
- Holds less than a 2-year college degree from a U.S. college or university
- Commits to 3 hours of tutoring a week for at least 6 months
- Speaks comfortably in English in person and on the phone
- Has literacy goals that are personal, educational or work-related
- Completes a reading placement test with BoulderReads

Requirements for literacy tutors:
- Must be at least 18+ years old
- Has advanced reading and writing, speaking and listening in English skills
- Completes the BoulderReads tutor training
- Commits to 3 hours of tutoring a week for at least 6 months
- Maintains regular communication with the learner and BoulderReads staff
- Meets learner online, at library branches, or other public locations
- Is proficient with email, basic software and web-based electronic resources
