The Boulder Public Library receives many inquiries from authors, publishers, and publishers’ representatives and has created these guidelines to help you. If you are not an author or publisher, please use our suggest a purchase form.
The Library routinely acquires books from commercial publishers that meet our criteria and priorities for selection as outlined in our Material, Programs & Services Selection Policy. We also may acquire self-published books when they include unique local content, fit the scope of the Library’s collection plan and meet our selection criteria, including quality, accuracy, and editing.
The best way to bring your title to our attention is a positive review in one or more of the major review journals (for example Library Journal, School Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, Booklist and Publisher’s Weekly). Paid reviews will not be considered.
Because of the number of submissions we receive, we cannot accept review copies or notify you if your book is not selected. Due to time constraints, we cannot meet with individual authors either.
Donating a Book
Due to the high cost of evaluating, processing and cataloging donated materials, the Library does not add donated items to the circulating collection. The Library accepts used book donations to be sold in our used book stores and sales. Find out more about our Donation Guidelines.
